South Korea’s SK Telecom tweeted yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S2
ICS update is expected on March 13. If it’s true then eager Galaxy S2
owners out there can expect the Ice Cream Sandwich update on their
devices anytime soon. However, SK Telecom has since deleted the said
tweet, although The Verge was able to capture a screenshot of the news,
which was announced in Korean.
This may have given yet another false hope to Galaxy S2 users, but
the hype built up the past couple of days seems promising as it was also
fueled by an announcement from Samsung on their website. Samsung
Philippines broke the news regarding a Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 update
without the go signal from the head office.
There are several speculations that Samsung is aiming for a
simultaneous global update but due to the massive number of Galaxy S2
phones that need updating, this effort may prove futile. They could also
possibly be leaking these rumors on purpose to stir excitement among
tech bloggers. But at the end of the day, the world’s top smartphone
owners– techie or otherwise, are certainly on a standstill waiting for
the Android 4.0 update to finally come.
